At the moment I'm sitting here in my office with Dale snoozing next to me on the floor. He should be about exhausted now because Mike gave him a volleyball to play with and he insists that I play too! All freakin' day... LOL!
Have spent all week with the icky funk cold that's going around here, still have it and it's not letting up. I realized today that I am literally exhausted since I don't have any rest time anymore now that we have the dog. It's been a nice couple of days here too, nice and warm, low to mid 70s. Which is fine, the cold and rain on Saturday will put an end to that!
I have some family updates to report, so brace yourselves...!
My niece is pregnant... she just turned 18 and is supposed to be going to college. My sister is beside herself with worry since she just had a baby of her own. Not sure how this one is going to play out, since Megan (my niece) is only 4 weeks along. Jenny keeps saying, "I can't help her, I can't do it, no money, no more room here..." I have to keep telling Jenny that if Megan is going to make adult decisions she's going to have to accept adult responsibilities. Can't really argue with that reasoning (or can you?).
One of the people Mom scammed got in touch with me looking for her. I don't know exactly where Mom is now, she's in NY somewhere, but I did hear that James (the one who was on drugs) has started back on drugs and has moved back in with Mom after my other brother John kicked him out from his place here in Maryland. The lady looking for Mom is wanting her money back, roughly $700. Trust me, when I figure out where Mom is, I will be giving the info to this person to let her pursue getting her money back.
My sister Jenny (Megan's mother) had to change her phone number because creditors were calling constantly looking for Mom. Apparently Mom owes a lot of people a LOT of money. I found out a few weeks ago that when Mom bought her house a few years ago - the one she never made a payment on - she actually stripped the house of everything and sold it when she found out it was being foreclosed on. So she falsified the tax information to get the house, never paid anything for the house, AND emptied the place of all appliances, doors, anything that couldn't be pried up. Can you say, "Criminal activity"?
Things here at home are fine, we did get our taxes done and got a small refund from Maryland. Mike is still working a lot of overtime so he's tired all the time, but he says he wants to get it now before the opportunity runs out.
We found out that there's going to be another shopping center built right across from us so we will probably stay put until it's here. We were talking about moving sooner but think the property might be worth more if we wait. Last year around this time the value was around $320,000. This year, $250,000. Kind of shows where the economy in this area is headed.
Otherwise just reading lots of books, working on web sites, and playing with the dog.
Life is good. Even with a head full of boogers! |
